On the floorAll training programs encourage students to observe respectful behaviors including arriving for class in time to be on the floor stretching 15 minutes before class.
T Th 4:00-5:45 Ballet IV + MAD Apprentices
Large StudioThis class incorporates advanced classical and contemporary ballet training and includes workshop type experiences in: • alignment (both still and in motion) • kinesiology of technique • history of ballet • contemporary artists and trends of dance • Pilates, yoga and stretch technique • pointe or pre-pointe, etc.

BreakIt is important to set the example for taking care of the dancer’s instrument: their body. Please bring healthy, light food to keep the body well nourished and the mind alert.
T Th 6:10-7:00 Modern IV MAD Apprentices
Large StudioThis class expands on the classical ballet training with modern dance theory and experiences. Utilizing a blend of Doris Humphrey’s theory of Fall and Recovery, Martha Graham’s theory of Contraction & Release and movement philosophies from modern dance masters including Jose’ Limon, Merce Cunningham and Alwin Nikolais, students build an innate understanding of modern dance theory and performance.
T Th 7:00-8:00 Modern Rep MAD Apprentices
Large StudioBy permission only, MA II & Moving Arts Dance Apprentices will participate in the creation of original dances to be performed in MAD student performances. It is critical that students who enroll in the performance training not incur absences as it slows the entire class progression.
T Th 8:00 – 8:30 MAD Apprentice Training
Small StudioThis 30-minute slot is allocated for the apprentices to work on MAD repertory and original choreography as needed for upcoming performances. . It is critical that students who enroll in the performance training not incur absences as it slows the entire class progression.
Saturdays 10:45 AM - 3:00 PM Sa 10:45 - 11:00

Sa 11:00 - 12:45 Modern III-IV +
Large StudioTeaching a thorough understanding of modern dance theory and technique, this course will include workshop experiences in: • a variety of modern dance techniques including Nikolias, Cunningham, Louis, Humphrey, Graham, as well as contemporary philosophies and artists. • history and contemporary trends in choreography • injury prevention • alignment, both moving and still • kinesiology of technique
Sa 1:00 - 3:00 II-III Improv, Partnering and Repertory
Small StudioThis class provides the skills that are unique to the MAD training program, skills that set the dancers we train apart from the group in auditions and performances. Based on the university method of training the whole person, this important addition to the MAD training program prepares dancers for college dance and careers in dance. “Without a full understanding of these principals, dancers are not prepared to work in the contemporary trends of the art of dance.” –Anandha Ray
